Ceran’s investors include CPFL - Geração de Energia S.A. (65 %), Companhia de Geração e Transmissão de Energia Elétrica – CEEE-GT (30 %) and Desenvix (5 %), organizations with strong reputations and credibility in the national market.

The company generates 360 MW of energy for the National Inter-linked System (SIN). This energy is equivalent to the consumption of the seven cities in the Complex’s area of influence: Antonio Prado, Bento Gonçalves, Cotiporã, Flores da Cunha, Nova Pádua, Nova Roma do Sul and Veranópolis, as well as Carlos Barbosa, Caxias do Sul and Farroupilha. The energy generated by the three plants is enough to meet the needs of 630,000 families, with an average residential consumption of 200 kWh/month.

Ceran’s corporate objective is the implementation and exploitation of the hydroelectric developments of Monte Claro, Castro Alves and14 de Julho, and the correlative and auxiliary activities.

The concession for use of the energy potential, for 35 years, was the objective of the Grant Decree dated February 19, 2001, published in the Federal Official Gazette on February 20 of the same year. The Concession Contract, which regulates the conditions of use of the developments, was signed on March 15, 2001, granting Ceran the status of Independent Electric Energy Production Concessionaire and granting it all the pertaining privileges, rights and obligations, in terms of existing federal law.

The construction of the Rio das Antas Energy Complex was funded by BNDES - National Bank for Economic and Social Development and the transfer agents Banco do Brasil, BRDE - Regional Bank of Far Southern Development, Caixa RS - Rio Grande do Sul development Agency and Banrisul.
